The Stannah 420 deluxe stairlift features include:
- A sturdy and reliable anodized track is standard on the 420. The track attaches to the staircase, not the wall, reducing the impact of installation. The track is powder-coated to resist scratching, has no exposed rivets or bolts and is enclosed to avoid trapping of dirt, dust and pet hair.
- A soft start and stop design makes for a more comfortable ride, and the entire journey is easily controlled with a simple armrest toggle switch.
- An optional power swivel seat turns the chair in one direction at the top of the staircase, improving chair accessibility and rider safety.

The Stannah 420 comes with a standard tan, durable fabric upholstery. The unit itself is constructed using easy-to-clean plastics and many powder-coated metal parts (not painted parts), making the lift resistent to chips and scratches.
All Stannah straight stairlifts come with a premium rail system. Besides offering an attractive look and dependable construction, these rails offer the option for a hinged track. Should your staircase end in a doorway or passageway, a hinged rail will allow the track to fold up, over the staircase, clearing the way for others. As you near the end of the staircase a light will flash and the unit will beep, alerting others than the track is about to unfold. The track will then automatically fold down, with no effort required, allowing the chair to reach its final destination. After the rider is safely off the stairlift, the chair should be sent a short distance up the track using the remote control. This will cause the hinged track section to fold back up, clearing the way for others.
Like all Hudson Accessibility stairlift models, the Stannah 420 utilizes DC powered, maintenance free, sealed lead acid batteries. Hidden charging units plug into a standard 110V AC outlet, and continually charge the unit's batteries, ensuring that your stairlift will operate for several cycles, even during power outages.
